RetroReel — Preserve the Past • Share the Future

Packing & shipping

You mail the media to RetroReel. Choose your own carrier and postage. Canada Post or Purolator are the most reliable.

Mail packages to:
RetroReel, PO Box 51, Elma, MB R0E 0Z0
If you ordered online, print the order sheet and put it inside the box. If you used the paper agreement form instead, put one filled copy in the box and email the other to philipekroker@gmail.com. Write your name on the package.

Tapes (VHS, Beta, cassette, 8-track)

  • Keep tapes in their sleeves or cases when you have them.
  • Do not rewind to a specific spot; we inspect as received.
  • Wrap cases so they cannot rattle. Fill empty space with paper, not loose packing peanuts against exposed tape.
  • Keep tapes away from magnets, speakers, and extreme heat.

Records (LP, 45, 78)

  • Leave discs in inner sleeves and jackets.
  • Stand records on edge when you can. Do not stack a heavy object on top of a single disc.
  • Use a rigid box. Corner protection helps 78s especially — they are brittle.

Photographs

  • Loose prints are best. Place them flat between stiff cardboard.
  • Do not write on the front of prints. A pencil note on a sticky on the back is fine if needed.
  • If photos are still in an album, say so on the order. Glued pages may be damaged if removed, and albums may not be rebuilt.

Irreplaceable media

If the risk of loss of a particular media is unacceptable, please consider an alternate service, while we will always endeavour to prevent any loss, we can not promise to prevent all loss. Use a sturdy box, extra padding, and a tracked service. Insurance is your choice with the carrier. RetroReel is not a courier.
